AIAO 2026 Resilience Series
What makes a community truly resilient? Strong buildings and infrastructure are essential, but our ability to endure disruption and thrive through change also depends on the strength of our relationships. AIA Oregon’s four-part 2026 Resilience Series explores how social cohesion, community stewardship, equity, cultural knowledge, economic vitality, and thoughtful design can create healthier, more connected, and more adaptable communities. Drawing on research and lessons from Oregon and around the world, the series will examine how architects and allied professionals can help foster trust and belonging, design places that bring people together, and build the community capacity needed to prepare for, respond to, and recover from natural hazards and other disruptions.
Our series will be introduced at this year’s Oregon Design Conference on the Thursday Session “Designing Survival: Why community comes first.” You must attend the conference to attend this session.
The four-part virtual series will begin October 2 and continue through October 30th. You can learn about each of the sessions at the links below.
