Women in Design is a gathering for architects, engineers, contractors, planners, and design professionals across every stage of their careers from students and emerging professionals to firm principals and industry veterans. Whether you're looking to expand your network, find a mentor, or simply spend an evening with people who get the unique challenges (and wins) of working in AEC, this event is for you.

Expect thoughtful conversation, light bites and drinks, and a room full of people who are as passionate about good design as you are. No agenda, no pressure just genuine connection with the women driving Portland's design community forward.

Who should come: Anyone who identifies as a woman working in or adjacent to architecture, engineering, construction, interior design, urban planning, or related fields. Allies welcome.

Here's how the evening unfolds:

5:00 – 5:20 | Arrival & Social Time Come early to grab a drink, meet fellow attendees, and settle in before the challenge begins.

5:20 – 5:30 | Welcome & Special Guest We'll kick things off with a quick welcome and a first look at tonight's charette prompt. We're excited to welcome Wendell Mueller, Architecture Department Head at Mackenzie, who'll share a few words on the firm and its commitment to supporting emerging professionals. Then it's time to form your teams of four and get ready to design.

5:30 – 6:30 | Charette Time One hour on the clock. Your team will race to concept, sketch, and refine a design response to the prompt bring your creativity and your best teamwork.

6:30 – 6:45 | Team Presentations Each team nominates one presenter to pitch their concept to the group in a quick, high-energy round of design showcases.

6:50 | Results & AIA Announcements Our judges reveal the results

Whether you're looking to sharpen your design instincts, meet other professionals in the field, or just enjoy a fun, low-stakes challenge, this is one evening you won't want to miss.
