Over 120 chapter members, students, guests, members of the construction industry and our 18 2019 Construction Craft Award Nominees gathered at the Ford Alumni Center last night to celebrate craftsmanship and the work the building industry does for our projects and our clients.
Those attending were treated to a thoughtful presentation on the detail of craft from the perspective of designer and architect Justin Allen of Berlin, Germany, and Stott visiting professor this term in the UO Interior Architecture program. Justin shared his story of the evolution of his work experience, with a spotlight on the detail of construction craft at its finest and a call for gender equity in all aspects of construction.
The 2019 Craftsmanship Award winners were selected by a jury that included chapter members, past award winners, our speaker and a UO interior architecture faculty. This year the following individuals join the list of over 190 other craftspersons who have been previously honored since the chapter first started this awards program in 1953:

Special thanks to all those that helped plan and put on this event, the UO School of Architecture and Environment as presenting partners, and especially to the sponsors of the nominees. In his closing remarks of the evening emcee Stan Honn, AIA, and former chapter President, noted that this event should be repeated again in about 2022, and it was not too early to start to identify the crafts men and women that we work with on our projects who deserve to be recognized with this prestigious award.
