AIA Eugene Section Meeting - A'23 Debrief

Join AIA Eugene Leadership Rex Prater, AIA (Director) and Andrew Scheidt, AIA (Director-Elect) as they present a topical, practical analysis of this year's AIA National Conference held this past June in San Francisco to help AIA Eugene members utilize new best practices, methods and materials introduced via A’23. Each will also present excerpts of two topics from the conference applicable to problems and needed architectural solutions for our local section. Q&A with each presenter will follow their presentation.

We will be meeting at the bar in the back of the 1st floor. Food and drink will be available for purchase at the venue.

Learning Objective 1:
Attendees will learn about HSW updates that affect their professional stamp. In the ’Stamping technical documents’ segment, presenters will cover NCARB recent updates of the Model Law and Regulations to better reflect a current reflection of ‘Responsible Control’. Responsible control directly relates to an architects knowledge of the project and HSW implications of design decisions

Learning Objective 2:
Attendees will learn about ‘Designing in the Wildland Urban Interface’; understanding the safety risks of finer details and material choices on the growing number of projects in Oregon that exist in that habitat, mainly an offshoot of the Urban Growth Boundary

Learning Objective 3:
Attendees will understand the Whole Carbon Lifecycle - and a look some new tools for preliminary design and assessment of Low-Carbon Fuels. Strategies to ensure healthy, resilient finished projects.

Learning Objective 4:
Attendees will understand the desire for standardization of industry detailing, how that benefits project delivery and overall client experience and invite participation with an AIA San Francisco effort to create these new standards.
