Duty to Defend Bill Passed

Our Duty to Defend Bill has passed and is headed to Governor Kotek's office for signature. THANK YOU ALL for your efforts, responses to our calls to action, and showing up for activities like Oregon Leadership Summit and to the legislature for testimony (Please thank Kathy Austin when you see her / talk to her!).

Our partners in NOMA PDX were also instrumental - thank Jean Root, Karina Ruiz, and Octavio Gutierrez when you have the chance as well for offering their support. Erica Rife and AFO were also participants in our Leadership Summit; the bill was carried by Marshall Coba  (lobbyist) and Tonya Finley (President) of ACEC Oregon, and of course, our own Cindy Robert for AIAO.

It was truly an all-hands-on-deck effort, especially with last minute opposition from the League of Cities and Towns, Trimet and Oregon Counties! With our collaborative and persistent effort, this measure is now headed to the the Governor's desk for signature; we see no opposition as of this time to that signature. When signed, the law will become effective January 1, 2025. It will not affect contracts executed before this time. Again, thank you all for ALL YOU DO!
