Due to the pandemic, the 2020 AIA Oregon Chris White Golf Classic is cancelled. However, Langdon Farms Golf Course is holding open tee times on the afternoon on September 25, 2020 for our use. Those interested in golfing with their friends and colleagues are encouraged to follow the link below to provide your name and contact information. Each participant is responsible for their green fees and refreshments.
The CWGG remembers Portland architect, Chris White, AIA, who served consistently throughout his career as a mentor to many new and aspiring architects until he passed in 2014 following a battle with cancer. Chris and his friends at Opsis started golfing together regularly to enjoy each other’s company outside of the office. This is the spirit of the intent of this golf outing.
If you are a regular golfer and want to participate, bring a companion along that isn’t a regular golfer. Let’s use this opportunity to broaden the exposure to a golf outing and the social interactions that come with it. The format will be “best ball” to create a great experience regardless of ability.
While the golf tournament, including the dinner and auction have been cancelled due to the pandemic, golf is an activity that is compatible with social distancing. Plan to wear a mask.
In previous years, AIA Oregon and AIA Portland raised funds at the CWGC to support the Chris White Scholarship for Emerging Professionals. AIA Oregon is exploring alternate funding options to support this scholarship and will provide more information later in the year.
