AIA Oregon Events and Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update

Updated 3/16/20

The current health crisis affects people from around the globe, our country, our state, our communities, our places of work, and our families.  As a professional association with over 1,600 members, all of our activities require the participation of our dedicated volunteers.  At this time, we prefer the focus of our members be on their health, family, and communities.

Based on recommendations from the State of Oregon and the Centers for Disease Control, AIA Oregon is enacting the following procedures:

1.      All AIA Oregon activities, including events and committee meetings, remote or in-person, are postponed* or cancelled** through the end of March 2020.

2.     From the beginning of April through the middle of May, the only AIA Oregon events and meetings that will occur are those that can be done through telephone and video conference calls.  This means any event that requires in-person participation, such as a construction tour, will be suspended.

3.     * One-time events originally scheduled through the middle of May that need to be postponed, such as a code seminar, will be rescheduled at a later date.  We will defer establishing the rescheduled date until updated guidelines and/or requirements from public agencies recommend doing so.

4.     ** Re-occurring events originally scheduled through end of March, such as monthly committee planning meetings, will be cancelled.

5.     The CFA gallery space in Portland and the Octagon in Eugene are closed to visitors until further notice.

6.     AIA Oregon staff will continue to work during this period and will follow social distancing guidelines.  This will include greater distance between workspaces, working from home and/or staggered work schedules.

We will update the Events pages on the AIA Oregon website as circumstances change, and AIAO staff will contact committee leaders about changes to the schedule.  Additional resources to assist our members navigate this challenging time will be added to the Resources page of the AIA Oregon website soon, and if you have anything you would like to share, please send to info@aiaoregon.org

The AIA Oregon staff wants you to know that our focus is on you and how we can provide assistance.  We are living in unprecedented times and it is difficult to understand all that is going on and how we’ll manage.  Eventually we’ll look ahead to recovery, but we don’t have a road map to follow.  We’ll do it together!
