Two positions on the AIA Oregon Board will become on January 1, 2020; Secretary, and AIA Portland Section Director.
The Secretary is a member of the Executive Committee and the position is selected by the Board of Directors. The term of the position is two years. See below for the selection process for the Secretary.
The Section Director is a member of the Board of Directors and the current position to fill is the Director from the AIA Portland Section. The Section Director serves as the liaison between the local Section and the Board. The Section Director is selected by the Section in the process described below.
In addition, each Section will identify a person to fill the role of Section Director-elect. The Section Director-elect is a newly defined position and intended to support the Section Director by leading the activities of the Section and learning the role of Board Director. It is assumed that the Section Director-elect position will evolve over the course of 2020. The Section Director-elect is selected by the Section in the process described below.

Secretary
The AIA Oregon of Directors Nominating Committee is accepting letters of interest and qualifications from members to be considered for the position of Secretary.
This position will be open at the conclusion of the current Secretary’s (Bill Foster, AIA) term at the end of this year.
Interested members should submit a one-page letter of interest including relevant financial management and leadership experience, and professional resume to amorris@aiaoregon.org by 5:00 PM, Friday, December 6, 2019.
The Nominating Committee will evaluate applicants for approval by the Board of Directors at their meeting on December 13, 2019. Results will be published no later than December 19, 2019.
Voting of Section Director and Section Director-elect
Voting for the Portland Section Director and the Section Director-elect positions for each Section will be conducted during the meeting segment at each Section Holiday Party in the first few weeks of December. Meeting dates:

Nominations will be accepted from the floor at the beginning of the meeting, and voting will be conducted at the meeting. Members present at a meeting are eligible to vote, and the candidate with majority of the ballots cast at the meeting shall be elected to the position. Each nominee will be allocated 2-3 minutes for a presentation. We request that each person interested in being nominated inform AIA Oregon by December 6, 2019 by emailing your name and confirmation if you will attend the Section meeting in person to amorris@aiaoregon.org.
