This event has been postponed - stay tuned for the new date and time.

Small Firms & the 2030 Commitment

Nate Kipnis, FAIA is a small firm owner of Kipnis Architecture & Planning based in Illinois. He is founding member of the AIA’s 2030 Commitment Working Group in 2009, and is spearheading an effort to grow small firms signatories to the AIA's 2030 Commitment on the SFx National Board. The 2030 Commitment is an actionable climate strategy that gives us a set of standards and goals for reaching net zero emissions in the built environment. As an early adopter of the 2030 Commitment & a consistent advocate for climate action, Nate will discuss first hand how his small firm, which focuses primarily on single family residential projects, has supported the commitment. Nate will offer myth busting advice on how small firms can join the 2030 Commitment and share available resources to help document progress.

Find more information about the 2030 Commitment here including guides, case studies, & resources. The AIA Code of Ethics also includes obligations to the environment aligned with the 2030 Commitment, to read more about architect’s ethical responsibilities regarding energy conservation, water usage, ecosystems & climate change access the Code of Ethics document.
