Economic indicators and market sentiment are pointing toward a recession in the next 18 months. Workforce trends are also making unprecedented shifts. Many of us have memories of the Great Recession. Come learn from Oregon Workforce Economist, Christian Kaylor, what the big picture impact could be, and chat with Sarah Hacker, Principal at Hacker Architects, about her take on how firms of all sizes can successfully navigate difficult times.

About the presenters:

Christian Kaylor is a Workforce Economist for the Oregon Employment Department, specializing in the Portland area. He provides data and analysis relating to the Portland economy to local businesses, business associations and government agencies to facilitate intelligent decision making. His monthly newsletter on the Portland economy has over 1,000 subscribers.

Before coming to the Employment Department nineteen years ago, Christian worked in various positions in Oregon politics and policy. A native Oregonian, Christian has a degree in Economics from the University of Oregon.

An Oregon native born into a family steeped in architecture and design, Sarah is a Principal at Hacker and has been with them since 2001. Her belief in Hacker’s work, values, and people is the driving inspiration for all her business activities. As a Principal, Sarah is a tenacious advocate for evolving the firm while honoring its roots. In addition to developing and supporting the firm’s marketing and business development activities, Sarah focuses her time on firm-wide initiatives such as equity, inclusion, and sustainability. She is inspired by opportunities to positively impact the day-to-day lives of employees, clients, and the community.
