Industry Forum Update
On January 21, the Industry Forum (ACEC, AIA, AGC, PLSO) met to discuss our short (35 day!) Oregon Legislative Session, priorities in each of our individual industries, and to share opportunities for our volunteers. Unsurprisingly, we all had levels of concern for AI in the industry and its effects on interviewing. If you have experiences you’d like to share as we gather information and consider legislative actions that may need to be taken, please email AIA Oregon CEO, Heather Wilson: hwilson@aiaoregon.org
Design Build Oregon 2026 - Architectural Mentors Needed
We were also presented with an exciting opportunity to partner with the Construction Industry Education Foundation (CIEF) Annual Design Build Competition: Salem - CIEF - Construction Industry Education Foundation. This event will be held May 13 -14 at Chemeketa Community College in Salem, and they are in need of Architectural Mentors right away to help support the students while they design their plans. You are introduced to a school to help either in-person or virtually for a maximum of two hours to help them with their preliminary plans. The level of experience that the students and teachers have will vary. Please sign up to participate directly on their website: Get Involved with Design Build Oregon 2026
Thank you in advance for contributing time to this very worthwhile project. We will also have the opportunity to partner with these organizations for a Girl Scouts A/E/C Career day later in the year, so stay tuned!
Would you like to attend the Industry Forum meetings? Members are welcome to attend. The meetings are held quarterly in Salem at David Evans and Associates offices. Please contact Heather Wilson to be added to the invitation list.
