Call for Nominations for 2023 candidates   

Candidates interested in elected national office (First Vice President or Treasurer or the At-large Director) position on the Board of Directors have until Monday, February 6, 5pm ET to declare their intent (prior to The Leadership Summit). The 2023 Annual Meeting page has all the needed information, including roles and responsibilities for these positions.

Firm billings for November 2022    

AIA's Architecture Billings Index, a leading nonresidential construction indicator, is free to AIA members. Architecture firm billings softened further in November with a score of 46.6. Despite this, firms remain optimistic about 2023, with 63% expecting it to be good to a great year for their firm.  Learn more >

Emily Grandstaff-Rice, FAIA Inaugurated

The American Institute of Architects (AIA) inaugurated Emily Grandstaff-Rice, FAIA, as its 99th president.

“The AIA is a window that looks towards a brighter, more sustainable, and equitable future for the profession,” said AIA 2023 President Emily Grandstaff-Rice, FAIA. “As AIA President, I will strive to ensure that AIA embraces diversity, responsiveness, and is a better reflection of the society we serve and what is best about being an architect.” Read More>>

Hart, Pugh Complete HBCU Visits

In 2022, former AIA President Dan Hart, FAIA and NOMA President Jason Pugh, AIA visited the seven NAAB-Accredited Architecture programs at U.S historically black college and universities (HBCUs).

“We knew visiting the HBCU’s together would benefit each of our associations in terms of awareness, and might be helpful to the schools, but I was not prepared for the energy and optimism I felt on each campus,” said Dan Hart. Read More>>

Latest residential firm trends   

The AIA's Home Design Trends Survey is a recognized source of emerging trends in residential design and business conditions at residential firms. The latest release shows that while project billings remained healthy, inquiries and design contracts weakened. Firms also reported that contemporary home styles remain popular along with durable/low-maintenance exteriors.Learn more > 

New map tool highlights infrastructure funds   

A new map detailing projects funded under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act was released by the White House and updated last month. The map provides details on the amount of funding and categories for each state. Components may find it helpful as state lawmakers convene in 2023. Learn more >

The name for the former AIA Grassroots Leadership Event has been rebranded to reflect the event’s purpose and target audience—our leaders. The new name is The AIA Leadership Summit.

2023 AIA College of Fellows component grants (formerly EP grants)    

The College of Fellows awarded a total of $24,500 in funding to support component emerging professionals programs in 2022. Submissions for 2023 are now being accepted. The deadline is Friday, January 20, 2023.
