AIA Oregon Awarded AIA College of Fellows 2019 Grant for Emerging Professionals

(From August 22, 2019)

AIA Oregon has recently been awarded the AIA College of Fellows 2019 Component Grant for Emerging Professionals. Our AIA chapter was awarded his grant to assist with developing the network of emerging professionals across the state and providing equitable benefits to AIA and AIA Associates that fit the definition of an emerging professional.

Are you an emerging professional? The AIA uses the term "emerging professional" to refer to the diverse group of individuals working toward architectural licensure and those recently licensed. This includes recent graduates, those working on licensure, and architects licensed 10 years or less.

Next Wednesday The Eugene section will be holding a general meeting to discuss mentoring as a direct part of the implementation of the grant, partnering with the College of Fellows. EPs and potential mentors are encouraged to attend and discuss how a mentoring network could work in our section and what that might look like. Please RSVP to this meeting through the AIA Oregon events page: https://www.aiaoregon.org/events/2019/8/28/aia-emerging-professionals-mentoring-meeting-eugene

Future emerging professionals initiatives will include:

  • ARE study groups/study materials

  • Career-focused education

  • Professional networking opportunities
