Assist AIA in drafting comments for White House Definition of Zero Emissions Building - embodied carbon

On Tuesday, March 19th, the White House Climate Policy Office convened a roundtable discussion on embodied carbon. The White House was seeking input on what should be included in Part 2 of the National Definition for a Zero Emissions Building, which will focus on embodied carbon.

All of the individuals and organizations in attendance were invited to submit suggested definitions for the White House to consider as it develops its first draft. The first draft will be open to public comment later this year, and the White House plans to publish its final definition by November.

The White House already has a draft definition for Part 1 of Zero Emissions Building, the final draft of which is expected to be published in the coming weeks. Embodied Carbon is Part 2 of the definition.

Please come to a listening session prepared to discuss both a high-level, simple definition of embodied carbon and more detailed ideas about methodology and possible incentives to be considered for AIA’s official comments for the White House.  To sign up for a listening session please fill out this JotForm and we will follow up with a meeting invite for one of the calls.
